Mining Museum | Durham
Spennymoor, on the outskirts of Durham, is home to the Mining Museum. Located in the Town Hall, you'll find a dedicated memorial to all the lives lost during the Mining period.
There are three main display areas, all manned by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers.
This is a great place to spend the day with all the family, learning about this essential part of our history. You'll get to observe mining artefacts and models of large machines. Plus, the third section consists of a simulated underground coalface and tunnel - complete with a life-sized model pit pony and coal tub.
