Leigh Heritage Centre | Southend, Essex
Leigh-on-Sea in Southend has plenty of interesting history and so it's worth checking out their Heritage Centre.
The museum dwells in the old Smithy in Old Town. The Leigh Society had to fight hard to save this building from being knocked down!
It's open daily from 10.30am to 3pm and it's run by extremely knowledgeable volunteers who are on hand to tell you all about the history and culture of this little fishing village.
The museum is full of memorabilia from times past and so if you're a real history enthusiast you simply have to pay this place a visit.
Other local historic buildings have been restored too and these can be explored too! Don't forget to check out the cafe and gift shop at the end of your visit.
