Chester Roman Amphitheatre | Chester, Cheshire
One of the most important historical sites in Chester is the remains of an old Roman Amphitheatre. It makes a great sight to take the kids to see, to play while learning about history!
Did you know, this Amphitheatre in Chester was actually the largest in Britain in it's day?!
It was used for entertainment but also for military training. Archaeologists say that two stone-built amphitheatres occupied the site. The first one offered access to the upper tiers of seats on the rear wall, and the second was built to provide access via vaulted stairways.
