Big Pit National Coal Museum | Gwent, South Wales
One of the greatest museums in Wales, Big Pit National Coal Museum, is completely free to enter and is a great day out for the whole family.
Big Pit is a real coal mine and an award-winning mining museum. There's interactive exhibitions, multi-media tours with a virtual miner and you can even take a trip 300 feet underground to experience what it was like for the thousands of men who worked in mines.
The museum is open from 9.30am - 5pm every day, with the underground tours running from 10am - 3.30pm.
Big Pit is located in Blaenafon, Torfaen and is easily accessible by car or public transport. It's a great day out for the family, so make sure you pay a visit the next time you're near!
